FACTS: Hypothermia is dangerous. It is often experienced in near drowning incidents and by trauma patients. Protection of the head and thorax is extremely important.

Heat loss from the head alone makes up 50% of the total. For multi-trauma patients, the survival rate drops to 50% if the body temperature is below 34 degrees.

At a body temperature below 32 degrees, survival is very rare.
